Tales from Covidia
We have been in self-imposed, then government-imposed, and then self-imposed relative isolation at home since mid-March, and here it is mid-May already.
Both of our college students, Cora & Janet, came back home as their school transitioned to online learning for the ballance of the semester and Summer. Fiona's high school sophomore year was similarly positioned for digital learning days. I've been working from home for the duration as well. My bride, Maureen, who works "as needed" (and as-available) hasn't been needed for a while as many things have been shut down.
Togetherness and time for introspection have been the order of the day(s). I've been practicing gratitude. Here are a few of the things for which I am grateful during this time:
- God's provision for our family through my job with a company providing a much-needed service during these days
- Being able to do my job while working from home
- The unexpected gift of "extra time" with our girls
- Being able to stay connected with church, friends, & family via various video conferencing apps
- Wonderfully delicious meals! All the women in my life are excellent chefs and keep our appetites satisfied with many and varied dishes each evening. I pitch in from time-to-time, but don't measure up to them!
- Relief that my parents don't have to deal with these times
- My brother and sister, who are the very best! We make a great team in all we do to support and love one another and our families, too!
- My bride of almost thirty years, who is the butter to my bread and the breath to my life!
There are so many more blessings from God for me to be thankful for.
We are having a cookout party tonight. Happy birthday to me.
